“Tiul BeEretz HaOtiot” (“Trip around the letters”)

This program is designed for Hebrew-speaking Kindergarten children and marks the beginning of their journey toward Hebrew reading and writing. Throughout the year, lessons focus on two main areas: an engaging introduction to the Hebrew alphabet – including letter recognition, sounds, and writing and learning about the Jewish-Israeli calendar year and holidays, while exposing students to rich Hebrew cultural traditions and treasures.

This program meets for a weekly 90-minute classes for a total of 32 times a year on Tuesdays between 3:50-5:20 OR on Wednesdays between 3:50-5:20

Grade 1

During this year, students learn all of the Hebrew letters as well as the vowel signs kamatz, patach, shva, chirik, and chirik maleh. Students are also introduced to common Hebrew function words and prefixes.

In addition, students explore the Jewish-Israeli calendar year and holidays while engaging with rich Hebrew cultural traditions and treasures.

This program meets for 90-minute classes for a total of 32 times a year on Tuesdays between the hours 4:45-6:15 OR on Wednesdays between 3:50-5:20.

Grade 2

During this year, students learn the Hebrew vowel signs cholam (malae and chaser forms), tzeirei, segol, shuruk, and kubutz, while continuing to build reading fluency and accuracy.

In addition, students explore the Jewish-Israeli calendar year and holidays while engaging with rich Hebrew cultural traditions and treasures.

This year, Grade 2 will offer differentiated learning levels. Students who completed 1st grade at Emek have been placed in the level that best matches their needs.

New students are invited to contact us so we can assess and place them in the most appropriate learning level.
