Upcoming Renovations
Dear Kaplen JCC Community,
I am absolutely thrilled to share the wonderful news that we are expanding our parking lot!
With gratitude to the generosity of donors, the incredible support of the Board of Trustees and feedback from members and guests, we are breaking ground on a major parking renovation and expansion project. In the coming weeks, the work will begin to add over 200 parking spaces to our Taub Campus parking lot.
This huge investment is designed to ensure the best possible experience for our current needs and to prepare for continued growth in our future. We are building to ensure that the Kaplen JCC will be an even better, easier, and more welcoming place for every member of our community for years to come. Your donations and giving dollars are truly hard at work, making this much-needed improvement a reality.
What to Expect During the Renovation:
All of the planning has been done to ensure safe and efficient execution of the renovation while maintaining full operations. That said, there will be inconveniences including construction activity, carpool rerouting, varying temporary lot closures, and congestion. We recognize that a few months of adjusted parking routines will be frustrating — I ask for your patience and understanding so that we can make these changes for a long-term improvement.
· Pardon Our Appearance: Please watch for signage and follow the directions of our temporary parking routes.
· Safety First: We are committed to keeping you safe as we work, so please drive slowly and be mindful of construction zones. We want to assure you that every member of the construction team has been properly vetted to ensure the safety and security of our J community at all times.
Keep in mind that these temporary inconveniences will be well worth it when you experience the finished product: a spacious, convenient, and greatly expanded parking area.

What steps are you taking to ensure safety?
Safety is our top priority. All construction zones are securely fenced, and we have
implemented strict safety protocols. Additionally, every construction worker has been
properly vetted to ensure the security of our community.
How will I know which areas are closed?
We will communicate closures in three ways: 1. Updated alerts on our website and app, 2. Email announcements, and 3. Clear signage and traffic attendants on campus daily.
Who should I contact with questions or concerns?
For any questions or concerns regarding the renovation, please email our dedicated

Where should I park now?
Please follow the new temporary signage posted throughout the campus and the
directions of our parking attendants. We will clearly mark all open parking areas daily.
Will there be designated accessible parking spots?
Yes. We are committed to maintaining accessible parking. Designated handicap spots will
be available in the closest accessible lots
What if I’m dropping off/picking up children?
Dedicated drop-off and pick-up zones will be temporarily relocated. Please adhere strictly
to the posted signage and be mindful of staff directing traffic in these zones to ensure the
safety of all children.
Will there be a shuttle service? No. We encourage members to park in the designated
overflow areas. All staff will be parking in a lot not at the Kaplen JCC to ensure all members
and program participants have access to parking at the J.
How many new spots are being added?
We are excited to be adding over 200 new parking spots to our Kaplen JCC campus, greatly
increasing accessibility for our community.
How long will the construction last?
The major construction phase is projected to last approximately 6 months; December
2025 to June 2026. We appreciate your patience during this period and will notify you
immediately if the timeline changes.
What is the overall goal of the renovation?
The primary goal is to address our community’s need for increased parking capacity,
improve traffic flow, and enhance the overall accessibility and safety of our campus.
Will the J close during construction?
No, the J will remain open. Construction will be phased to minimize disruption, though
certain entrances and lots will be temporarily closed at various times.
