Red Hair Blue Lips

Red Hair, Blue Lips is a memoir about a mother’s love, a daughter’s illness, and the meaning of life. This memoir is about Claire and her family’s forty-year journey with her daughter, Dana who was born with a congenital heart defect. Their story is filled with despair and joy and told with honesty, compassion and love. Throughout this journey, Claire realized that the nature of tragedy is indiscriminate. It is not that we suffer, it is how we suffer; this is what defines our character and shapes our lives.
Claire is a retired teacher and writer.
