Geared towards those 75 years and older, this senior club enables those who would otherwise be homebound, to get out, meet new people and enjoy themselves in the company of peers. The Senior Activity Center meets each weekday, Monday-Friday, for a full day of programs. Under the supervision of a highly qualified and professional staff, SAC features a wide range of programs and activities. Additional offerings include special programs (i.e. birthday & holiday celebrations, health & wellness sessions, social games), helpful resources (i.e. referrals to social work professionals) and support services (i.e. blood pressure screenings). An intake interview is required.

Fit for Life

Sonny Knaub, NASM-CPT, Certified Trainer and Wellness Coach, will lead participants through exercises that are designed to, improve muscular strength and flexibility. Using hand-held weights, resistance bands and exercise balls, Sonny will offer a light cardio program that will also help to increase balance and coordination. This class is good for all fitness levels.

Easy Exercise

Bruce Locklin

This class uses light weights and rubber exercise bands to strengthen muscles. There’s only one rule – if it hurts, don’t do it. Theses one-hour sessions are led by Bruce Locklin, a 15-year-veteran senior-fitness instructor, certified by AAFA and Silver Sneakers.

Yom Hashoah Commemoration: Besa - The Promise

Our annual Yom Hashoah commemoration will feature the viewing of Besa: The Promise, a film that weaves the first-person accounts of the Albanian Muslim who rescued Jews during the Holocaust along with the story of Rexhap Hoxha, a Muslim-Albania who wanted to fulfill the promise his father made to a Jewish family by returning a set of Judaic books they left behind. Johanna Neumman, who was protected by the Albanian community during the Holocaust and is part of the film The Besa, will give the keyour keynote address. The evening will also feature the presentation of the Abe Oster Holocaust Remembrance Award to a high school student who creates a work of art that conveys the continuing relevance of the Holocaust in the 21st century. Additionally, there will be a candle-lighting ceremony honoring all survivors and their families.
