Thurnauer Symphony Orchestra

Be inspired and join our orchestra for children ages 12+ who have several years of experience playing their instrument. Led by Diego Garcia, young and seasoned musicians perform standard symphonic repertoire, popular selections and contemporary works.  In recent seasons, the orchestra has performed music by Vivaldi, Boccherini, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Smetena, Rimsky-Korsakov, Saint-Seans, Holst and Diego Garcia, among others. The orchestra has performed at BergenPAC in Englewood with world-famous violinist Joshua Bell and jazz guitar legend, Larry Coryell and been conducted by Alan Gilbert, Music Director of the New York Philharmonic and Gerard Schwarz, conductor emeritus of the Seattle Symphony. The Thurnauer orchestral experience provides an excellent educational and nurturing environment where students play great orchestral music while developing their ensemble skills

There are performance opportunities during the year including winter and spring concerts where students showcase their talents to their parents, friends and the community. In addition, the Thurnauer Symphony Orchestra holds an annual concerto competition open to all Thurnauer students.
