What does it mean to be single, surrounded by friends who are all married, as you turn 35? The Tony Award–winning 2021 revival of Company takes Stephen Sondheim’s groundbreaking 1970 musical and flips it on its head with a bold, gender-swapped reimagining for today.

At the center is Bobbie, a single woman on the verge of her 35th birthday. While her married friends throw her a surprise party, Bobbie spirals into a series of surreal, funny, and poignant vignettes that unravel in her mind. Through encounters with her closest friends, who bicker, divorce, compromise, and cling to one another in wildly different ways, Bobbie confronts her own resistance to commitment and the ticking clock of time.

Along the way, she revisits her past and present relationships, including Andy, PJ, and Theo, whose charm and chaos remind her of both the thrills and pitfalls of love.

Funny, heartbreaking, and deeply relatable, Company captures the contradictions of love, marriage, and being alone in the modern age. The show builds toward Bobbie’s powerful realization in Sondheim’s iconic finale, Being Alive”, a moment that redefines what it means to open your heart to life’s risks and rewards.
