Tiffany Capuano
Born in Istanbul and raised in NYC, Tiffany raised her two daughters, Daisy & Sloane, and cavapoo, Miko, in Demarest, NJ. Her journey at the JCC began in 2006 when Daisy began preschool, and Sloane attended ‘mommy and me’ sessions. Today Daisy attends Emory University and Sloane attends The University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.
Since settling in Demarest, her commitment has extended beyond her family to the entire community. From Tiffany’s active involvement in their elementary school years, philanthropy and community service have been more than mere words; they are her essence. Over the past 18 years Tiffany devoted herself to numerous charitable endeavors. Tiffany’s journey began with the Jewish Federation of Northern NJ (JFNNJ) where her efforts were recognized in 2014 with the Rising Star award. She had the privilege to serve lunch to Holocaust survivors via Cafe Europa at the Fairlawn JCC and ensured children have necessary supplies through initiatives like Supplies for Success. Her dedication also extended to The Jewish Home Family from orchestrating holiday celebrations and Grandparents Day to leading unique programs and ensuring everyone has companionship – she has always tried to make a difference. Additionally, she helped in collecting over 20,000 lbs of food for Federation’s annual March Mega Food Drive that was distributed to multiple food banks and people with food insecurity. Tiffany also served for many years as Golf Chair at Montammy Golf Club and helped fundraise for Play for Pink and breast cancer research. She also supported Englewood Hospital including their annual Walk for Awareness. These are just a few examples.
Tiffany always believed that the foundation of any thriving community starts in its educational institutions. She is currently serving her fourth term on the Northern Valley Regional High School Board of Education since 2015. As Chair of the Buildings & Grounds committee, she helped pass a referendum that was instrumental in updating the fields, tennis courts and facilities for the first time in 20 years. She supported the creation of the wellness centers in our high schools and the addition of a diverse range of AP courses with more offerings than any other high school in our area, resulting in the current #1 ranking in the state of NJ. She helped facilitate the partnership with Bergen County Technical HS bringing in Interactive Design Technology and Sports Medicine and Exercise Science programs offered on the Demarest and Old Tappan campuses of the Northern Valley Regional High School District.
In her leisure, Tiffany is an avid yogi, golfer, skier, cook, artist and philanthropist. In 2018 Tiffany became a certified 200-hour RYT yoga instructor specializing in hot vinyasa flows. She enjoys practicing as much as teaching – It’s a place to let go in the movement and find yourself at the same time.
She has been traveling since she was an infant and was born to wander and explore. Tiffany believes in collecting experiences over things and is always ready for the next journey. Some favorite destinations include Istanbul, Jackson Hole, Sardinia, Copenhagen, and of course, Israel where she has family and friends. She led a trip to Puglia, Italy in September 2024 and there are more adventures to come.
Community engagement has been an integral part of her life, with the golden rule serving as her guiding principle. Drawing inspiration from the Dali Lama, “It is not enough to be compassionate – you must act.”
