Community Mitzvah Project: mitzvahmasks
Calling all crafters, artisans, creative types and JCC friends looking to make a difference! As you know, our country is experiencing a shortage of masks.
YOU CAN HELP by sewing a home-made mask! We will be collecting masks at JCC for distribution to local health care and front line service workers - and of course, you can make them for yourself and your family as well. Using your sewing machine or ingenuity, join the community-wide effort to be part of the solution.
Below you will find links to videos and articles with easy-to-follow directions including supplies, patterns and instructions.
Masks should be durable enough to be washed multiple times. Ideally, they should be made of a woven fabric and should be more than 1 layer. While making these masks, please be sure to wash your hands well and wear protective gloves.
Once made, put masks into a plastic or paper bag, then drop it off at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades. Please put your name and email address on the bag. An isolated collection bin will be set up in the front vestibule on Monday and Wednesday mornings, 10 AM-Noon.
You may also mail them to:
