Deep in the forest\, he encounters a princess\, and they fall in love. But mighty forces block their romantic dreams – Ivan’s true love is held in captivity by the evil sorcerer Kostcheï. To free her\, Ivan must battle Kostcheï and his mythical monsters. He calls upon the enchanted Firebird\, the only one who has the power to defeat this dark magic. \n\n\n\nThe magnificent ballet dancers\, Stravinsky’s sublime score\, and vivid costume and set designs combine to create an exhilarating adventure.

DESCRIPTION:Shirah Concert\n\n\n\n“Tihyeh Or — Let There Be Light!“ \n\n\n\nShirah’s annual Chanukah concert will celebrate the spirit of the Jewish nation across the generations\, with songs of the season and music reflecting the eternity of the Jewish people. \n\n\n\nMarsha Bryan Edelman\, conductor  | Brian Gelfand\, pianist \n\n\n\nThe music chosen for this concert reflects Jewish history\, resilience and pride. Timed to anticipate Chanukkah (which begins the following week)\, Shirah will sing traditional and modern holiday selections from America and Israel\, as well as contemporary music  connecting us to the eternity of the Jewish people. Dr. Marsha Bryan Edelman\, conductor of Shirah\, explained “In this unique moment in Jewish history\, combining celebration and continuing uncertainty\, we look to the ancient stories and texts that have always inspired us. Choral singing offers a powerful expression of hope and the importance of community\, and we are looking forward to sharing this inspiring music with our audience. \n\n\n\nMusic by Bob Applebaum\, Jeff Braverman\, Debbie Friedman\, Stephen Glass\, Elliot Z. Housed at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades Thurnauer School of Music in Tenafly\, NJ\, its roster includes a multigenerational blend of singers from northern New Jersey and the New York metropolitan area. SHIRAH performs regularly at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades and has been featured in many concerts in the U.S. and Israel\, including Lincoln Center\, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center\, the John Harms Theatre\, and the Colden Center\, featuring the World Premiere performance of This Scroll by Dov Seltzer with the Queens Symphony.
