Evelyn and Harold Meltzer Judaic Scholar-in-Residence Program with Rabbi Reuven Kimelman
Rabbi Reuven Kimelman is the Scholar-in-Residence at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades. He is a professor of classical rabbinic literature at Brandeis University. He has taught also at the University of Toronto, Amherst College, Mt. Holyoke, Smith, Trinity and Williams colleges, the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and the Jewish Theological Seminary. In addition, he served as scholar-in-residence of the National Jewish Community Centers Association. Rabbi Kimelman is the author of the Hebrew work, The Mystical Meaning of 'Lekhah Dodi' and 'Kabbalat Shabbat' and three audio books, two on The Moral Meaning of the Bible - the What, How and Why of Biblical Ethics, and one on The Hidden Poetry of the Jewish Prayerbook: The What, How and Why of Jewish Liturgy.
Judaic Scholar-in-Residence programs are funded by the Evelyn and Harold Meltzer Judaic Scholar-in-Residence Endowment Fund, the David Dubin Chair for Judaic Scholars Endowment Fund, and the Sarah and Mel Lubin Judaic Scholar-in-Residence Fund.
The JCC on the Palisades is sponsoring a class by its Scholar-in-residence, Professor Reuven Kimelman of Brandeis University. The Pirkei Avot “The Ethics for the Fathers” The Wisdom of Judaism The same class will take place at two times to allow for maximum participation, and so that if you miss one, you are welcome in the other.
