SUMMARY:JCCU Spring Miniseries
DESCRIPTION:Spring Miniseries 2026 In-Person\n\n\n\nArt Talks with Professor Thomas Germano\n\n\n\nThursday\, 4/23 – 11:00 AMDreamworld: Surrealism at 100 \n\n\n\nIn his manifesto of Surrealism of 1924\, André Breton celebrated the unbridled imagination as the springboard to freedom in all aspects of life. Artists responded by incorporating dreamscapes\, applying Freudian psychoanalysis and presenting free associations. Automatic creativity was central to the artists for tapping into the subconscious mind. \n\n\n\nThis talk will feature paintings\, drawings\, films\, photographs and literary documents associated with the international Surrealist movement\, with important works by Dali\, Miro\, Tanning\, Magritte\, Ernst\, and other artists. \n\n\n\nThursday\, 5/7 – 11:00 AMBanksy and Street Art \n\n\n\nBanksy is an anonymous street artist whose identity has been highly speculated but never confirmed. His covert public art pieces are immediately recognizable\, cutting to the heart of cultural satire and political commentary. The arena for Banksy’s art is guerrilla street installations\, making it at once highly visible to many\, while also illegal. This UK-based artist has evaded criminal charges even as his works—and the walls they cover—have fetched hundreds of thousands of dollars at auction. \n\n\n\nProfessor Thomas Germano will discuss the art of Banksy in the context of street art. \n\n\n\nFor Both: $35/Member\, $40/Guest \n\n\n\nPer Session: $20/Member\, $25/Guest \n\n\n	\n Register Now

This year’s Rubin Run will be held on Sunday\, May 10\, Mother’s Day! \n\n\n\nThe JCC will offer two CompuScore-timed races for the entire family and for competitive athletes at all levels: a 10k run and a 5k run/walk through the tree-lined streets of Tenafly\, Englewood Cliffs\, and Englewood\, NJ. After a finish onto the summer camp field\, there will be a series of kid’s fun runs that will help instill a competitive spirit and the joy of running into our younger participants.This family-friendly\, community-wide event raises important funds for the JCC’s Guttenberg Center for Special Services\, helping to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities. Participation in the run directly supports individuals who rely on the JCC and the Guttenberg Center’s vital resources and programming—empowering them to build communication skills\, strengthen self-confidence\, and grow as engaged and valued members of the community. \n\n\n	\n \n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n\n	\n	\n\n\nThe Rubin Run is named for the late Leonard Rubin\, a past president and founder of the JCC\, who established this community-wide athletic event over 40 years ago in 1981 to encourage and promote healthy living. \n\n\n\nChair: Samuel Jed Rubin \n\n\n\nCommittee: Alan Canarick\, Dan Cohn\, Andrew Kent\, Dan Oelsner\, Mark Rottenberg\, and Howard Simon. \n\n\n\nFor sponsorship or more information contact Jeanine Corrubia at (201) 408-1406 or jcorrubia@jccotp.org.

SUMMARY:A Taste of Israel
DESCRIPTION:A Taste of Israel: Moroccan Cuisine\n\n\n\n*DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND\, A SECOND DATE HAS BEEN ADDED: Thursday\, May 28 \n\n\n\nCome enjoy the traditional flavors of Morocco. Roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty as Chef Hanita leads you through the legendary traditions of the Maghreb. \n\n\n\nThe Moroccan influence on Israeli cuisine is vibrant\, aromatic\, and deeply immersive. In this exclusive\, hands-on workshop\, you won’t just learn how these dishes are made\, you will experience the rhythm and the heat of the Moroccan kitchen. \n\n\n\nOn the MenuTogether\, we will hand-craft a feast from scratch: \n\n\n\n\nThe Perfect Grain: Master the art of preparing fluffy\, authentic couscous.\n\n\n\nThe Golden Crust: Create a savory\, delicious Moroccan Mahmar pie.\n\n\n\nThe Heart of the Meal: Cook two rich and aromatic stews to top our couscous—one savory meat and one vibrant vegan option.\n\n\n\nThe Sweet Finale: Finish on a festive note by frying fresh\, golden Sfenj (Moroccan doughnuts) until they are perfectly crisp.\n\n\n\n\nMember $80 / Guest $95 \n\n\n	\n Register Here\n \n	\n\n\nChef Hanita\n\n\n\nBorn and raised in Israel\, Chef Hanita grew up in a home where food and hospitality were a way of life. The table was always full\, the air filled with warmth and aroma\, but the kitchen wasn’t her playground back then. She only stepped into it after getting married and moving to a small apartment in Boston\, far from the familiar flavors of home. \n\n\n\nThat’s where her love story with the kitchen began. Out of longing and curiosity\, Hanita started cooking\, recreating tastes from her childhood\, and slowly developing her own voice a language of food that combines intuition\, creativity\, and heart. \n\n\n\nAfter studying culinary arts in Israel and France\, Hanita found her true calling\, blending the precision of pastry with the soul of home cooking. Today\, she brings all of that into her workshops and events where every dish tells a story\, every aroma evokes emotion\, and every shared meal becomes a celebration of connection. \n\n\n\nRooted in the warmth of Israeli hospitality and shaped by her international journey\, Hanita’s food is a reflection of who she is  generous\, curious\, and full of life. Every meal she creates is an invitation to connect\, share\, and celebrate together.

SUMMARY:Cinematec: Reading Lolita in Tehran
DESCRIPTION:Switch to HebrewSwitch to English\n\n \n\n\n	\n\nCinematec: Reading Lolita in Tehran\n\n\n\nIn a city where silence is enforced\, seven women gather in secret to find their voices. \n\n\n\nInside a private living room in Tehran\, former professor Azar Nafisi and her most devoted students defy the authorities to study the very books the regime fears most. As the world outside tightens with fundamentalist rule\, these women shed their veils\, both literal and emotional\, to explore forbidden Western classics. \n\n\n\nWhat begins as a literature class transforms into a lifeline. Through the pages of Great Gatsby and Lolita\, they navigate their own stories of love\, identity\, and defiance\, proving that even under oppression\, the imagination remains free. \n\n\n\nDIRECTOR – Eran Riklis\n\n\n\nAward-winning filmmaker known for The Syrian Bride\, Lemon Tree\, and Dancing Arabs.
