Meet Our CSA Farmers

Please join us on Sunday, April 28, 2:15 – 3:30 PM and meet our wonderful farmers – Ken Fruehstorfer and his wife Maryellen Driscoll of Free Bird Farm – who are making a special visit to launch our 2019 CSA.

As first generation farmers, they will share how they got started and what keeps them going year after year. Ken and Maryellen will discuss:

• What it means to be an organic grower.
• The differences between conventional and organic produce, and why people should care.
• What we can expect to see over the course of the season.
• Tips on how to make the most of the weekly shares, how to best store produce, and easy ways to use or preserve leftover perishables.

As a CSA member, you will get 22 weeks of great produce for less than $25 a week and become part of a growing community that supports sustainable agriculture. This year, we will also feature monthly discussions and demonstrations on cooking and health. The season runs on Tuesdays, June 11 – November 5.

Register online at jccotp.org. Deadline to register for the CSA is May 24. For more info, contact Marilyn at myeshua@jccotp.org.

Hazon CSA

Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a mutually beneficial partnership where consumers receive fresh, nutritious vegetables while helping to sustain the livelihoods and stewardship of regional farmers. In a CSA arrangement the farmer pre-sells “shares” of his or her farm’s upcoming harvest to individuals, families, and institutions. Hazon means vision – Hazon’s mission is to foster a healthier and more sustainable Jewish community as a step towards a healthier and more sustainable world for all. The CSA distribution for the 2019 season will run for 22 weeks: Tuesday, June 11 through November 5.

Registration deadline is May 24, 2019. For additional information contact Marilyn Yeshua at myeshua@jccotp.org.
