JCC TEEN PHILANTHROPY INSTITUTE

http://www.jccotp.org/teen-philanthropy?pID=24&progID=5932

What if Someone Gave you $5000 to help fix the world? Applications must be received by October 28, 2013. What are the goals of the program? The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades intend to inspire and involve teens in meaningful activities and acts of tzedakah that encourage them to bond, collaborate and give with a sense of excitement and purpose. Our hope is for Jewish youth to become passionate about pressing needs in the world so they evolve into caring, giving adults who actively engage in upholding important Jewish values. How does the program work? Each participant contributes $250 of their own money. Then the group will work together to give the combined amount to the organization(s) of their choice. Limited to 20 students in 8th to 10th grades. What’s the commitment? Participants must commit to monthly meetings from November 2013 through May 2014, occasional phone calls and research outside the regular meetings. Why Should I Get Involved? Meet Jewish teens from all areas of Northern New Jersey. Explore and learn about Jewish values as you develop leadership skills. Learn about philanthropy and foundations. Choose which organizations and programs receive the combined funds. Here’s what TPI participants had to say: “TPI has taught me that philanthropic giving is on a higher plane than the simple act of giving charity. Through this program, I have found that contributing time and effort to help others build a foundation for a better life is worth more than emptying my pockets.” - Randie Adler “I have always been very motivated to make a difference and to improve the world around me and give back.” - Harrrison K. Fees: $250 donation for allocation plus $150 registration fee Click here for application. For more information please contact Sara Sideman at 201.408.1469 or email: ssideman@jccotp.org. This program is supported in part by the Leonard Rubin Fund for Leadership Development, and individual contributions and gifts.
