Sarah Gottesman Lubin Program For Creative Arts & Crafts

Sarah Gottesman Lubin was an avid crafter who especially enjoyed the soft arts of quilting and needlepoint. She was an active member of the Pomegranate Guild. After her passing in December 2007, the Sarah Gottesman Lubin Program for Creative Arts and Crafts was established in her memory at the JCC so that others could explore and enjoy the exciting world of crafts and culture. This endowment provides opportunities for people to experience the sheer love and joy of creating something of beauty with their own hands. Pre-registration required for all creative arts classes.

Israeli Society Through the Lens of Cinema

Over the last decade and a half, Israel has emerged as one of the great centers for filmmaking. In addition to its artistic excellence, Israeli cinema provides intimate insights into the dynamic nature of Israel and its diverse people. Prospecting the cinema provides an ideal “lens” by which we gain a greater understanding of Israel’s history, culture and challenges. Through film clips from movies spanning the decades, Dr. Eric Goldman will examine the changing nature of Israeli society as reflected through its cinema.

Eric Goldman is adjunct professor of cinema at Yeshiva University and author of “The American Jewish Story through Cinema.” He is a film critic for The Jewish Standard.

Presented in partnership with the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.
