Enjoy reading great plays and humorous plays, contemporary and classical. Scripts provided by instructor, along with background on the playwrights and plays. No preparation necessary. New play every two weeks. Optional field trip to a Broadway show at end of second semester. Possible trips to smaller theaters where productions can be discussed with actor/directors.
Technique and scene work on a professional level. Focus on character analysis and development, using the script to your advantage, capturing the moment, pacing and keeping the audience’s attention. Work on auditions for local theaters – last spring four class members auditioned successfully for featured roles at theaters in the NY-NJ area. Led by dynamic director with NYC professional directing and acting credits.
Improvisation, comic monologues and scene work for intermediate actors. As students develop their technique, by second semester they may choose to put together an evening of scenes or short plays under the direction of Tony Award Nominee, Mr. Redfield. (no class 12/22,31).
