The Leonard and Syril Rubin Nursery School at the Kaplan JCC on the Palisades offers a warm, child-centered environment rooted in Jewish tradition, where children can become confident, responsible, and successful learners. We strive to enrich each child’s world through exposure to language arts, science, reading and math readiness, music, art, Judaic programming, physical education, and swimming. Nurturing social interaction is an integral part of all programs. By learning through doing, each child establishes a strong sense of self and accomplishment.
The Leonard & Syril Rubin Nursery School aims to provide a warm, enriching environment -- one that promotes and encourages both socialization and individual creative expression. Within this environment a child will become self-aware, self-reliant, and confident.
Classroom activities are designed with the understanding that optimal learning occurs in a child-centered atmosphere, which stimulates self-discovery. A flexible approach is combined within a structured framework of comfortable routines. By “learning through doing,” each child establishes a strong sense of self and accomplishment. All of this opens the door to a positive attitude toward learning and lays the foundation for future education.
We strive to enrich each child’s world by offering opportunities for growth in a vast array of areas including: socialization skills, language arts, science, math readiness, music, art, Judaic studies, physical education, and swimming. The various programs aim to challenge students to fulfill their potential while building self-esteem, having fun, and forming strong and healthy relationships with friends. By participating in developmentally appropriate activities focused on the individual, and participating in small group and whole class activities, students learn to take responsibility for themselves and to care for others. Children leave our program as independent and confident learners who feel good about themselves and all they’ve accomplished and achieved during their time at our school.
